With sustainable low impact construction being a key driver of the project, we developed a stilted masterplan across the 10 hectare site, where each of the 120 pre-fabricated tiny house units are elevated from the ground, allowing the rice paddies below and around to continue to flourish.
At the heart of our Bali eco-resort lies the 3,000 m² central facility—a core hub designed to serve as the vibrant gathering point for guests and visitors alike. Inspired by the concept of a traditional village courtyard, this space is crafted to bring people together, fostering a sense of community and connection within the lush rice paddies and jungle of Ubud.
Architecturally, the design revolves around a dramatic, sweeping arc that forms the building’s primary gesture, wrapping around a spacious central courtyard. This fluid arc naturally directs movement and frames elevated, staggered views of the distant western mountain range, offering panoramic 180° vistas from nearly every angle. The facility houses essential resort amenities, including a multi-tiered pool complex, a restaurant, co-working spaces, and an event space, all seamlessly integrated to support both relaxation and productivity.
The pool complex itself follows the contours of the terraced rice paddies, enhancing the natural flow of the landscape while providing a unique, multi level swimming experience. Key points along the arc feature radial 360° nodes, creating intimate spaces such as the skylight lounge and entrance pavilion. These nodes punctuate the sweeping form, adding visual interest and anchoring the design.
Materiality plays a crucial role in blending the facility with its environment. We selected a timber framework paired with substantial, curved rammed earth walls, both low-impact and visually harmonious.
